"Yes! We will bring the coveted Kidoodles' little door with us to our new location!"
~ Dirk and Stephanie O'Hara
Kidoodles was opened by realtor Jan Nelson in Brookhaven Village at 3700 W. Robinson Street in November of 1985. It was known for having the special little door for young customers, offering “birthday wish” wagons, the bubble gum scent in the store and having eclectic and unique toys!
In October of 2004, Linda Angel bought Kidoodles and moved it to Normandy Creek Center on Main Street, where she operated for 5 years. Ed and Lin Copelin purchased the store from Linda in 2009 and moved it to downtown Main Street, where they also had Copelin’s, a teaching tool and office supply business. Lin, a former teacher, managed the store for many years. Ed and Lin announced their retirement in early 2023.
Jump Forward to 2023!
In spring of 2023, Kidoodles was purchased by us – Dirk and Stephanie O’Hara. The store will move approximately one mile to Carriage Plaza, which is on Main Street. And, yes! We will bring the coveted little door with us and will still use the popular Kidoodles star gift wrap. We are excited to share that the longtime Kidoodles manager, Jennifer Brooks will be coming with us to the new location!
We are expanding the toy lines we will carry, offering things that are unique. Whether it is an item that is not available on Amazon, a brand that is women-owned, products made in the USA, quality European brands not found in local stores – we will have something for every budget.
Kidoodles is also proud to announce that we will be featuring clothing and accessories for children and teens sizes 4 to 16!
We appreciate you shopping local – supporting THE AMERICAN DREAM. When profits stay local, it increases our community’s wealth, tax revenue and standard of living.
Shopping local makes a difference!
- For every $100 spent at a locally owned business, $73 remains in our local economy. Compare that to the same $100 spent at a chain store, where only $43 remains in the local economy.
- It creates local jobs! You are helping our local economy; your dollars will circulate money back into our community, benefitting public services.
- Shopping with us instead of online means you don't have to wait for your item.
- FREE gift wrap with your purchase!
- EXPERIENCE. Our store touches all of your senses, and will evoke JOY. You can test out the toys, try samples, touch and feel our products!
- You receive excellent, personalized customer service.
- It reduces your environmental impact; reducing energy and resources such as less packaging.
- Studies show that local businesses donate to their community at more than twice the rate of chains (79% vs 30%).
